Gifted summer programs provide legacy of learning, acceptance

Renowned summer gifted-education programs at two top universities can count among their alumni a number of high-achieving adults -- including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Sergey Brin of Google and pop singer Lady Gaga. The programs offered at Duke and Johns Hopkins universities -- as well as others like them across the country -- are highly selective and often expensive. But many participants and alumni say the opportunity to pursue their passions and gain confidence while among gifted peers was an invaluable experience.
