Hotels in small towns continue to see soft demand, report says

Hotels located outside the largest U.S. cities continue to experience sluggish demand, according to a report. The trend is slowing the industry's recovery from the economic downturn. The Smith Travel Research report found occupancies at hotels in small towns and near highways remained about the same, at 49% in the first half of this year.
