Spending for residential construction dipped in June

Residential construction declined 0.4% in June, a much smaller decline than anticipated after an attractive tax credit for homebuyers expired, according to Reed Construction Data. However, the multifamily market is still feeling lingering effects from the recession. Also in June, single-family construction spending declined 0.7% and remodeling spending was down 0.9%.
