America's wealthiest eye direct investment in private enterprises

Almost one-third of the U.S.'s wealthiest investors are planning to allocate money directly to private companies this year, according to a report from the Institute for Private Investors. "Many of these are investors who made their wealth through ownership of private operating companies," said Mindy Rosenthal, the president of IPI. "... They are attracted to investing directly in operating companies because this is where they have expertise, connections and where they can exercise control."
