Chinese rate deregulation might take 2 years, expert says

It could take China more than two years to end government control of interest rates, and the move could cost banks a third of their net interest margins, according to Bank of Communications. The next step might be for the government to end restrictions on rates paid by banks for five-year deposits, BoCom Chief Economist Lian Ping says.
