Colo. added 496 MW of wind capacity last year

Last year, Colorado brought online 496 megawatts of new wind capacity to the electric grid, taking its total wind capacity to about 2,301 MW, the eighth highest in the U.S, according to the Department of Energy's annual wind market report. Colorado has the capacity to get more than 13% of its power from wind turbines, the report stated. The wind industry supported 4,000 to 5,000 jobs in the state in 2012, the department said.
