New options and considerations are available as long-term-care insurance premiums rise to levels that are challenging for the middle class to afford, writes William "Bud" Bridgers. The reality is that a significant portion of care may come from spouses and adult children, but families may want to consider a "fat-short" insurance plan that would provide two years of care at the maximum daily or monthly benefit with no riders, Bridgers writes.
