Severe penalties and a damaged reputation await businesses that hire workers who are in the U.S. illegally, Tim Parker writes. "Within three days of hiring any employee -- or on the first day, if the person will be employed for less than three days -- you must complete an Employee Verification Form, known as an I-9," he writes. To avoid discrimination claims, it's important to use the same verification process for all of your workers, he writes.
