Mass. banks under fire for foreclosure practices

Massachusetts banks are facing intense examination after a number illegally foreclosed on homes by refusing to give homeowners the required 150 days to catch up on mortgage payments before their property is seized, lawyers say. "The bank can take your house without ever going to court, and so properly notifying homeowners of their rights is a critical safeguard against wrongful foreclosures," lawyer Eloise Lawrence says.
