N.C. police helicopter uses heat-seeking technology to fight crime

A Southeastern North Carolina Airborne Law Enforcement helicopter regularly hovers at 1,000 feet using heat-seeking, forward-looking infrared technology to monitor crime and public safety. Police also use it to patrol crowded public areas and search for missing persons. Agencies say that in 2013 the helicopter was called into service 539 times and assisted on 72 arrests.
