Study: Allied practices get high scores for care management

A study in Health Affairs that included 1,164 physician practices found smaller ones that are part of independent practice associations or physician-hospital organizations provide about three times as many care-management processes as other small independent practices. The authors said IPAs and PHOs could be a way to allow physicians to participate in accountable care organizations but cautioned their data were collected before the start of Medicare ACOs.
