Survey: Some procurement pros are falling short

Procurement professionals have to make progress if they want their departments to be seen as crucial for business success, writes Remko van Hoek, global procurement director at PricewaterhouseCoopers. A survey shows that only a minority of procurement professionals are gathering insight from suppliers or are measuring the satisfaction of internal stakeholders. "[P]rocurement managers will have to change the way they approach suppliers and business peers; being a strategic business partner means so much more than negotiating a discount," van Hoek writes.
