Tesco tests new format to keep big stores relevant

Tesco will launch a new hypermarket concept next week that fills some of the space with features including a Giraffe restaurant, Harris & Hoole coffee shop, a nail salon and a gym offering pilates classes. The format and other moves by the retailer are aimed at giving shoppers more reasons to spend time at the store as the convenience of online shopping has more consumers spending less time at big-box stores.
