Unlike the first wave of Internet start-ups when it ranked second to the Silicon Valley, the Boston area is not playing a leading role in the development of Web 2.0. "There's still no Web 2.0 brand name in the Boston market," said Kelly P. Conlin, CEO of NameMedia Inc., in Waltham, Mass. "I think there's some intriguing companies, but no one's made it through the gateway."
