San Francisco transit station tower will rise to new heights

Three designs will compete to become a skyscraper housing San Francisco's new transit station and potentially be the tallest building on the West Coast. The Transbay Joint Powers Authority will vote on Sept. 20 to select a development team for the project, which is scheduled to be completed by 2014. Each proposed design would dramatically change the city skyline, ranging in height from 1,200 to 1,375 feet.
