Asian shares drop on Japan's prospect of fading growth

Asian stock markets declined Thursday, with Japan's government signaling a possible end of the longest postwar boom in Asia's largest economy. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average dropped 1.4%, while the Topix index fell 1.9%. South Korea's Kospi index fell 1.5% after the country's central bank raised its key interest rate by a quarter percentage point to 5.25% to stifle inflation.
