Russia, siding with Iran, asks for more time

Dismissing the position of the U.S., Britain, and France that Iran had missed its deadline to review an incentives package for dismantling its nuclear program, Russia argued that Iran should be given more time. Although the U.S. argues that Iran is merely stalling for time, the six nations involved with the incentives package have agreed to pursue a "dual track" strategy, discussing new sanctions while at the same pursuing compromise with Iran.
