Labor Department program addresses orphaned 401(k) plans

The Department of Labor has launched a program to address abandoned or "orphaned" 401(k) plans. Plans are often locked up when an owner dies, a company merges or there's a bankruptcy. The Labor Department estimates that 15,000 plans are orphaned annually.
