Russia-Georgia conflict may have brought down Twitter

The denial of service attack that brought down Twitter on Thursday may have been caused by escalating tension between Russia and Georgia, says Internet researcher Bill Woodcock. While no one knows which nation started the attack, Woodcock said he believed that one side was sending propaganda via Twitter, so the other side retaliated by bringing down the Web site.
