U.S. Cellular profits from 20% boost in data subs

Regional carrier U.S. Cellular reported higher profit even as sales slipped 1.7% in the second quarter and average revenue per user remained flat from a year earlier, the company said. The carrier cited the flagging economy for the weak demand that caused its subscriber base to slip 88,000, though U.S. Cellular's high-speed Internet business grew 20%.
