IRS says travelers will not receive refunds

Travelers who flew on commercial airlines during the past two weeks when the Federal Aviation Administration was shut down will not receive ticket tax refunds, according to the Internal Revenue Service. Carriers will resume charging the ticket tax today. Some corporate travel departments that purchased tickets during the two-week FAA shutdown may have expected large refunds, observers said.
