The new Expedia Traveler Preference pilot program has been met with enthusiasm from various hotel firms, although several hoteliers have aired concerns about the program's potential effect on room cancellations and rates, this feature says. However, executives at Expedia say the program's flexibility as either a postpaid or prepaid booking channel will sit well with consumers. "There are certain consumers who like to buy merchant. ... And there are some consumers who do like to pay at the hotel. We think that giving consumers the flexibility to choose is a good thing," said Dara Khosrowshahi, president and CEO of Expedia.
