Australia shelves device ID proposal

Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration decided against moving forward a proposal to require medical-device makers to submit the name of each product included under each Register of Therapeutic Goods entry for each kind of device. Device-makers opposed the plan as too costly and complicated. The administration will instead pursue other ways to identify medical devices at the individual product level.
