Hurricane landfall predictions are feature of new model, researchers say

A hurricane-modeling program developed by scientists at Coastal Carolina University aims to predict the development of storms and whether they will make landfall on the East Coast or Gulf Coast. The model also is intended to more accurately predict a hurricane's path and intensity five days after a storm reaches land, said Len Pietrafesa, who leads the research team.
