Medtronic launches MRI-safe device to treat chronic pain

Medtronic has begun shipping its RestoreSensor SureScan MRI device, which uses spinal cord neurostimulation to treat patients with chronic back or limb pain. The technology is said to be the first neurostimulation device that allows patients to undergo whole-body MRI scans safely under specific conditions, and the company says that the first implantation in U.S. patients has already taken place.
