OCHA's Amos proposes steps to help get aid to Syrian civilians

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Undersecretary-General Valerie Amos is seeking the UN Security Council's assistance with getting aid into Syria. Amos is suggesting 30 measures including pauses in fighting for humanitarian purposes, cross-border deliveries and prior notice of military offensives, according to a confidential document. "[A] genuine political process is urgently needed to avert a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Syria and neighboring countries," Amos wrote.
