Rheumatoid arthritis linked with higher DVT blood clot risks

A study in the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases found that rheumatoid arthritis may be linked to blood clotting disorders. Researchers at the Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology analyzed Taiwanese medical insurance data from 1998 to 2008 and found that people with rheumatoid arthritis were at greater risk of deep vein thrombosis. "The highest risk of developing DVT appeared in the first years of rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis," the authors noted.
