Steady improvements seen boosting wind power in Canada

Greater height, bigger rotors and better reliability for wind turbines will help generate 55,000 megawatts of domestic wind power by 2025, the Canadian Wind Energy Association predicts. Key to this will be data and video monitoring that allows pre-emptive maintenance to keep power on line. "The goal is to bring the tech and the turbine as close to the engineers in the office as possible," said Richard Reno, wind product general manager in General Electric Energy’s Renewables Division.
