Tenn. wins $3.3M grant for fresh produce program

Tennessee will spend a $3.3 million federal grant on a program that will provide a fresh fruit or vegetable each day to students in 159 schools in 29 low-income districts. "Those same students then go home and tell their parents about the fresh fruit or vegetable they tried at school. This program not only exposes students to fresh food; it exposes entire families," said State School Nutrition Director Sarah White.
