Programmatic comprises 34% of AOL's ad business

AOL's ad-tech unit, Platforms, has become its chief revenue driver thanks to a 54% year-over-year growth led by programmatic units, the company said in its Q2 earnings results. AOL Platforms generated $247.1 million in revenue during Q2 and programmatic ads accounted for 34% of all ad business, up from under 5% last year, according to CEO Tim Armstrong.
