Maryland school district initiative closes SAT scores gap

Drawing on the success of a prep course to raise SAT scores, schools in Howard County, Md., will offer a semester-long elective class for all high school students, as well as pay for them to take the PSAT. Black and minority students who took the spring class saw their average scores improve by 150 points.
