San Francisco resegregation on the rise

The number of San Francisco schools where one ethnic group constitutes 60% or more of at least one grade is expected to rise to more than 40, up from 30 only two years ago. The trend began in 1999 when race-based enrollment was replaced by a diversity index using such factors as socioeconomic status, language and academic achievement.
