Clearwire's Wolff upbeat on Sprint merger

Clearwire reported higher losses in the second quarter, but shareholders were pleased to hear CEO Ben Wolff tell analysts its merger with Sprint's WiMAX division is on track to be completed this year. He said Clearwire, which added 18,000 subscribers in the quarter, was more interested in completing the WiMAX network conversion by the end of 2009 than in acquiring new customers now because of the potentially lucrative opportunities the new, faster network will provide in upselling subscribers.
