Groups push for action on chemical security

Health and environmental groups are pushing Congress to pass legislation requiring facilities using extremely toxic chemicals to switch to safer alternatives whenever feasible in order to prevent terrorist attacks at high-risk facilities. A temporary chemical security measure that was passed in 2006 is due to expire soon, and some Republicans and the chemical industry have urged making the rules permanent.
