N.C. students' test scores up, teacher bonuses down

North Carolina students did so well on state tests this year that teachers at 82% of schools statewide are eligible for bonuses. Since the state legislature reduced funding for the program, however, the individual awards will be reduced by as much as $447 -- a 30% drop over last year. "They promised us one thing and took it away," said kindergarten teacher Susan Sinclair.
