Fed is expected to debate more monetary stimulus

Federal Reserve policymakers meet this week and although interest rates have been near zero for a while, the Fed is expected to consider ways to bolster the economy through more monetary stimulus. The economic growth outlook for the U.S. remains shaky despite an aggressive rate-cutting strategy and purchases of almost $1.5 trillion in bonds by the Fed. The central bank officials also need to continue monitoring expectations about which way prices change.
