Open-source software maker Talend found the right match when it hired Nick White to serve as its first full-time CFO, David McCann writes. White had previously worked as finance chief at another successful open-source startup. "There aren't that many people who are experienced as CFOs of open-source companies," White notes. He said he draws on his experience to help Talend navigate issues that are a part of the business model, such as managing far-flung employees and overseeing the firm's rapid growth and low-cost sales strategy.
