Texas regulators are urged to solve dispute with EPA over air permits

A bipartisan collection of 46 lawmakers from Texas is urging the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to break the impasse with the Environmental Protection Agency over the state's issuance of "flexible" clean-air permits that the EPA says violate the federal Clean Air Act. In a July 23 letter that closely adhered to the language suggested by Valero's director of government affairs, the lawmakers told the TCEQ, "Regardless of who is correct in this dispute, the disapproval of this program has created a cloud of uncertainty for those businesses that are operating under a flex permit."
