Florida considers new tolls to speed up road projects

Florida Gov. Rick Scott wants to accelerate work on nearly $1 billion worth of road projects, including the Wekiva Parkway construction in Central Florida, and forge ahead with an additional $1.8 billion in Florida Turnpike projects. He says relying on gas taxes is not enough to fund the work and is considering instituting new tolls. "The transportation industry will be leading the charge in making sure we have the state-of-the-art infrastructure that is interconnected and efficient," Scott said.
