Richmond, Va., districts consider social media policies for teachers:

The four largest school districts in the Richmond, Va., area are considering new policies that would outline how students and teachers can communicate on social-networking websites, such as Facebook and Twitter. Until specific guidelines are on the books, officials say they encourage teachers to keep their communication on such sites professional, and warn them their posts are permanent and public.
