A healthier lunch menu for schools in South Carolina's Beaufort County is catching on as more students are buying fruit and salads even as longtime favorites such as pizza, made with whole-grain crust, remain top sellers. Larry Wilson, area manager for food-service provider Sodexo, says sales of salads dipped at first but bounced back within a year, and meetings with students led to requests for more healthy food options.
