Study examines smartphone platform preferences by region

The popularity of mobile platforms shows clear regional differences, with the iPhone and other iOS-based devices favored in the Northeast and much of the Midwest, while the South and Southwest prefer Android, according to the mobile ad network Jumptap. In the wireless platform election, Android wins California, Texas and Florida, while iOS takes much of New England as well as Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. BlackBerrys were not left out: They capture New York, while some states, particularly in the Southeast, are evenly divided.
