Team pulls bid on N.Y.'s $5B Tappan Zee project

Only three teams submitted proposals for the $5 billion Tappan Zee replacement project in New York. Hudson River Bridge Constructors withdrew its bid at the last moment because Flatiron Construction, a partner in the JV, "did not provide its approval to submit the proposal or release its bid bond," said Karsten Baltzer, senior project manager with Samsung C&T, E&C Americas, another partner in the venture. A record of decision is expected on Sept. 4.
