Do you think executing strategy is below your pay grade?

Too many top-level managers think of themselves as big-picture planners and refuse to get involved in the nitty-gritty of actually executing their vision, business author Lawrence Hrebiniak says. It's better to view execution as part and parcel of the process of strategic planning, and to come up with an implementation plan for your big ideas, he says. "Failure to develop an implementation plan is a problem or pitfall that usually ends in disastrous performance," Hrebiniak says.
