Dong Energy, partners seek to slash cost of offshore wind projects

Denmark's Dong Energy is spearheading an international effort to lower the cost of offshore wind installations by as much as 40% by 2020. "We expect to find significant savings" by, among others, reducing the size of turbine foundations and improving the installation process, said Bent Christensen, Dong's senior vice president for wind power. The group expects to release its findings in early 2015.
