Fla. state board names interim commissioner of education

The Florida State Board of Education on Friday voted unanimously to appoint Pam Stewart as the new interim commissioner of education. Stewart, who has been the state's chancellor of public schools, has also served previously as interim education commissioner. Her appointment follows the Aug. 1 resignation of former commissioner Charles "Tony" Bennett. The board is expected to discuss hiring a permanent commissioner at its September meeting.
