Hotel development surging in Denver -- and poised to continue

This year, about 1,200 new hotel rooms are springing up in Denver, and the next two years after will see about the same level of development. "Supply has been constrained over the last couple of years because of economic conditions and the financial crisis," said Robert Benton, an industry consultant in the state. Christine O'Donnell, president and CEO of the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association, says the region will see a net increase of jobs in the beginning, but a sharing of demand. "You may see a shifting of jobs from one hotel to another before you see that net gain," she noted.
