House piecemeal approach on immigration gains favor from Sen. Schumer

The House of Representatives' decision to tackle immigration reform through smaller, individual bills is acceptable if it leads to "some path to citizenship" for current residents, said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y. The lawmaker had urged the House to pass the Senate's comprehensive bill on immigration but has shifted his stance on the issue. "We would much prefer the comprehensive bill, but any way the House can get there is all right by us," Schumer said.
