IDC predicts ascendency of software-based storage solutions

The rapid growth in data is driving a spike in demand for advanced storage technology among enterprises and is expected to propel a sharp increase in sales of file- and object-based storage solutions, also known as FOBS. In a new forecast, IDC estimates that revenues from software-based FOBS storage systems will reach $38 billion in four years, up from $23 billion this year.
