India's homemakers eschew ethnic garb for western wear

India's apparel retailers report a growing number of homemakers are trading in their traditional Indian clothing for trendy Western styles. "Due to the influence of Bollywood and the increasing aspiration by housewives in smaller towns, we see western wear picking up substantially, driving growth from 6-7% last year to over 12% now," says Punit Agarwal, CEO of discount retailer Promart Retail.
